What You Need To Know Before You Start Branding Your Business

We live and work in a fast paced world where economics rule and the business owner needs business. Branding is a way of defining your business and giving it a look and feel for yourself and your business stakeholders. Your brand is your identity so start by defining your brand and make it count!

Research is key

What product or service does your business offer and what is your target audience?
Do some research into your competition. What separates you from the competition; do you offer something different/extra? How do you stand out?

Who are your customers? Look at your customer base and map out their personas; who are they? what drives them? what are their concerns about your product or service and how can your brand address any negativity? Your personas will supercharge your brand by promoting your business, connecting to your target audience and current customers as well as setting you apart from the competition. Good branding is thoughtful.

Who are you? You may also consider your businesses values. What persona do you want to send out into the world? Different colours, shapes, images and fonts make people feel differently and shape their opinions – your brand is your first impression so step out in style!

Be honest

Don’t ask too much of your business by offering too much and not being able to deliver on promises. Set realistic goals and have realistic expectations so that your clearly portraying your business and its values.

Keep it consistent

Once you discover who you are as a business, develop a consistent tone across the business that all stakeholders will use; whether sending emails, taking phone calls, writing Blog posts or chairing a meeting… all stakeholders understand the business, its tone and communicate coherently.
